The 2014 BMW X5 xDrive30d and xDrive50i are also taking the stage this week at the BMW stand in Frankfurt. The entry-level all-wheel drive diesel model will be available in Europe this fall while the U.S. market will continue to take advantage of the more powerful xDrive35d as the only X5 diesel offered.
In Europe, BMW will also offer another diesel, sDrive25d, as the first ever rear-wheel drive X5.
BMW X5 xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo diesel which develops a little more power than the previous generation -up by 13bhp to 254bhp – and a little more torque – up by 20bhp to 560Nm. In Frankfurt, it’s accompanied by the 443bhp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 petrol found in the xDrive 50i model.
The 2014 BMW X5 xDrive30d has a sharper acceleration when compared to the outgoing model – the 0-62mph time drops by 0.7- to 6.9 seconds – but fuel economy and CO2 emissions have improved by 7.4mpg and 31g/km to 45.6mpg and 164g/km.

When seen from upclose, thanks to the plurality of horizontal lines, and the direct transition to the headlights, the width of the F15 X5 stands out and gives the car an overall sportier look.
The side view shows off the extended bonnet and the perpendicularly positioned double kidney grille. Compared to its predecessor, the end of the hood falls off less strong, which is both a tribute to the pedestrian protection, while on the other hand it also increases the clarity and makes the front end of the vehicle for the driver more predictable.
BMW has also brought its new BMW Individual paint job for the F15 X5: Pyrite Brown Metallic paint.
