This summer, the new 2014 BMW M3 will make its world debut. Most of the design details are fairly known at the moment and rendering artists continue to improve upon the latest spy photos or insider information.

These new digital impressions from AutoExpress UK give us a fairly realistic look at the final design cues of the new F80 M3. As seen on the facelifted M5 or the M6 Gran Coupe, all future M cars will have the M designation on the front grille as well as the boot rump. According to Adrian Van Hooydonk, BMW VP of Design, the Bavarians will further distinguish their M models from the rest of the lineup: “We are making subtle changes already: all future M cars will have blue brake callipers, or gold when carbon discs are fitted. We’re looking at graphite door mirrors and wheel finishes, and black chrome exhaust tips too.”

The renderings show the F80 M3 having its front-end heavily influenced by the new M6 models, with two large air intakes, air curtains and extremely aggressive, road-focused look.

Van Hooydonk also says that BMW is “working hard to make the interiors of our M cars feel more distinct. We are developing new fabrics for use in our top-end cabins, and you’ll see more aluminum and blue strips inside M cars.”

BMW’s M Division is investing a lot of their time into weight reductions techniques via use of carbon fiber materials. The roof of the M3 will be baked from CFRP, and BMW is developing the first ceramic brakes seen on an M3, and the future M4 coupe.

Under the hood, the engine of choice is a six-cylinder turbocharged engine dubbed S55. We learned that the M3 and M4 models will deliver 440 horsepower and has a redline of 8000 RPM. Thanks to the lower weight and increased power, the new M3/M4 will be faster than the current generation E90/E92 M3, around 4.3 seconds from 0 to 62 mph.

The three powerful M models (M3, M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible) will be offered with a manual transmission and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
