2014 MINI Cooper Fully Revealed

2014 MINI Cooper Fully Revealed

Earlier today we gave you a photo of the MINI F56 sporting some camouflage during an official photoshoot, and now we are bringing you the fully unveiled 2014 MINI Cooper.

The folks over at Autoblog got their hands on the entire set of spy shots that reveal the F56 MINI in all its glory. The F56 MINI is built on a new front-wheel drive platform which will be shared between the MINI and the FWD BMW vehicles. The first FWD BMW made its debut in concept form in September at the Paris Auto Show.

Judging by the photo below, the 2014 MINI Cooper inherits the LED daytime running headlights from the 2011 Rocketman Concept. The front grille is more rounded and underneath sits a larger air inlet. At the rear-end, the 2014 MINI Cooper stands out with its larger taillights. The Cooper S models carry a small power bulge.

The car is also slightly larger than the R56 predecessor and sports a longer front overhang.

BMW will also introduce a new family of three-cylinder engines for the MINI. We expect to see an entry-level MINI One and MINI Cooper with power rated just under 100, respectively 130 horsepower. The more powerful models Cooper S and John Cooper Works will continue to use four combustion chambers, but each should provide a little more power than the current generation R56.

The 2014 MINI Cooper S and John Cooper Works variants will continue to use four-cylinder engines, turbocharged. The MINI Cooper SD will use a four-cylinder turbo diesel.
