BMW has just lifted the veil of the new 2 Series Coupe but the Munich-based automaker has more plans for the new family of super compact cars. The next model to join the lineup will be the BMW 2 Series Convertible which is built on the same platform as the coupe.
It is still unclear when exactly the compact class cabriolet goes on sale, but we anticipate a launch date sometimes in the summer 2014. The F23 BMW 2 Series cabrio is built exactly like the previously offered 1 Series Convertible at the Leipzig plant.
Just like the current model, the F23 2 Series Convertible will make use of a soft roof top. The design cues of the cabriolet are similar to the coupe so no major surprises are expected.
In addition to the entry-level petrol engine 220i, there will be diesel convertibles such as the 220d, and potentially a BMW M235i convertible.
