In just two weeks the final specs of the upcoming BMW M4 and M3 sedan will be made available to the public. The BMW M4, in concept form, made its debut last month at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance and it has been positively received by the media.

The market launch will take place in summer of 2014 and in the mean time several prototypes are still being tested and retested on BMW’s home track, the Nurburgring. The power output is still within a fairly known range: 420 hp to 450 hp. Based on those numbers and a lower weight when compared to the current E92 M3, we’re expecting a Nurburgring lap time below 8 minutes.

While the M4 Coupe looks like amean race track machine, its brother, the M3 Sedan, will impress even more. Built on a smaller platform, F30 versus F32 for the 4 Series Coupe, the F80 M3 has larger flared front and rear fenders. In the back, through subtle design cues, the new M3 reminds of the rear-end of the BMW 1M.

The engine is mated to a double-clutch transmission 7-speed transmission. The U.S. enthusiasts will most likely see a manual transmission option as well.
