How the 2012 BMW 1 Series could have looked like

We already know the story with the new 2012 BMW 1 Series: highly controversial exterior design, looking great from some angles, beautiful interior etc…But what could have been better? What parts of the car you would change if you were the 1 Series designer?

Our sister-magazine BimmerToday along with Duran Automotive Artwork embarked in a redesign journey and share with us their own version of how the 2012 BMW 1 Series could have looked like. And what we see, it’s closer to what we have expected.

First and foremost, a wider kidney grille. What’s the purpose of that? Well, for starters, it matches the somewhat oversized headlights. Next, it also closes the strange gap between the side section of the grille and the beginning of the headlight.

The revised front-end

To bring the sportiness out of this small, compact BMW, the revised version of the 1er sports wider fenders and larger wheels. The hood also gets slightly redesigned to feature a more aggressive look.

The front bumper receives a facelift as well with the air intakes being drawn larger than the “original” and slightly upwards.

The unusual shape of the headlights and the “greenhouse” have been left untouched, so essentially, the biggest complaint on the car remains.

The result? Let us know in the comments below.
