BMW X4 has not even hit the market yet and rendering artists are already speculating on an M version of the upcoming midsize Sports Activity Coupe.
The second Sporty Activity Coupe in the brand´s model range will be built at BMW Plant Spartanburg, along with the X3, X5 and X6 models. It uses the same platform as the BMW X3 with a body length of 183 inches (4,648 mm), a width of 75.4 inches (1,915 mm) and a height of 63.9 inches (1,622 mm). It is built under the codename F26.
The BMW design team is continuing down the path of recently unveiled models and some design cues are becoming iconic, 3D kidney grilles and “squared” circular headlights are some of them that come to mind.
The rumormill says that the BMW X4M is scheduled for 2015. The X4M, if approved, would take on the Porsche Macan, the new performance SUV based on the Cayenne model.
According to the usual BMW insider, Scott27, the BMW X4M is “being taken seriously as a concept in order to fulfill accessible performance for a Performance SUV and offer all-wheel-drive.”
If greenligthed, the BMW X4M would feature the same engine as the upcoming M3/M4 models, a inline six-cylinder engine that is derived from an extensively reworked N55 and dubbed S55.
Chassis engineers will pay special attention to the cars dynamics focusing on providing the X4M with a more sporty and dynamic character with emphasis on traction.
The “standard” X4 will debut next year.
