The new BMW M4 Convertible was spied for the first time.
The F82 M4 Convertible is built atop the new BMW 4 Series Convertible which will be unveiled later this year and goes on sale in early 2014. The M4 Cabrio will also launch next year, in the summer, together with the M4 Coupe.
Just like the coupe variant, the cabriolet M retains the overall design features of the 4 Series but with added M aerodynamics components. At the front we expect to see an aggressive front bumper resembling the one seen on the M6 Convertible – large air intakes and angled fins – while at the rear a diffuser will be surrounded by the dual twin-pipes typical to M cars.
The bodykit will also get the M treatment so expect to see wider fenders and large wheel arches.
BMW offers the M4 Convertible with a hardtop, same as the previous generation E93.

The F80 M3 and F82 M4 models will no longer be powered by the V8 naturally-aspirated engine but rather a new inline-six engine that sources say will develop around 450 horsepower. The new M4 is expected to be slightly faster than the current E92 generation thanks to a lower weight achieved by use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and carbon fiber.
The engine is mated to a double-clutch transmission 7-speed transmission. The U.S. enthusiasts will most likely see a manual transmission option as well.
