In just a few weeks, the new BMW 4 Series will make its market debut. In the mean time, lightly camouflaged prototypes continue to roam around in Germany. These latest spy shots give us a closer look at the BMW 435i model.
The test mule reveals details of the standard rear bumper as well as the Air Breathers behind the front wheels. The new 4 Series has a long sleek hood, a more steeply raked front windshield, lower front end, wider kidney grills and enlarged air intake just above the ground which all combine to give the coupe a very aggressive appearance. Even the headlights appear to be pushed more to the edge of the front end than compared to the 3 Series.
Though the new 4 Series wheelbase is 50 mm longer than the outgoing E92 3 Series Coupe, it has the same 110.6” wheelbase as the existing F30 3 Series sedan.
The drivetrain of the F32 BMW 435i is virtually identical to that of the current BMW 335i: the turbocharged inline six-cylinder with 306 horsepower. The engine can be paired to a six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed automatic.
At the lower end, the 4 Series family will include the 184 horsepower 420i model, as well as the highly efficient 420d. An EfficientDynamics version of the 420d might be offered as well.
When it comes to options and standard equipment, customers will have a choice between several exterior and interior colors, as well as full-LED headlights or gadgetry like Head-Up Displays.
The auto show debut will take place at Frankfurt in September.
